Vietnam, Laos step up archive cooperation

Vietnam will provide scholarships to 18 Lao archives students in 2014while receiving five Lao officials to work on probation in the NationalArchives Centre for one month.

An agreement to this effectwas signed by the State Records and Archives Department of Vietnam andLaos’ National Archives Department in Hanoi on October 10.

Under the agreement, the two sides will submit to the Governments aproject on the national archives insurance centre in Laos funded by theVietnamese Government.

They will also ask the Government’spermission for cooperation in building and sharing a list of archiveddocuments related to the history of Vietnam and Laos in line with thetwo countries’ law while continuing the exchange of professional skillsand information.

Over the past time, cooperation between thetwo archives agencies has been maintained and developed in an effectivemanner.-VNA
