Representatives from localities of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand which are sharing Highways 8 and 12, met in central Quang Binh province of Vietnam on Jan. 6.
They discussed measures to boost cooperation in the region towards a Mekong region of integration, prosperity, and harmonious and sustainable development.
They agreed to strengthen cooperation among provinces and asked their governments to put Highways 8 and 12 into a framework agreement to facilitate transport among countries in the sub-Mekong region and implement cooperative contents, to boost trade in the region.
Representatives from participating provinces of the three countries signed a minute on cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, transport, education and training, culture, sports, science and technology.
Over past years, provinces sharing Highways 8 and 12 contributed to boosting economic, cultural, education, sports and tourism cooperation, as well as enhancing friendship and cooperation between the three countries and the region./.
