A delegation from Vietnam’s General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), led by Vice President Hoang Ngoc Thanh, are visiting Laos from Apr. 9-14, at the invitation of the Laotian Federation of Trade Unions (LFTU).

The delegation was received by the President of the Laotian Federation of Trade Unions Khamla Lolonsy on Apr. 9 in the Lao capital city of Vientiane .

At the reception, Lolonsy said he was delighted that the Vietnamese delegation has visited Laos to attend the traditional Laotian festival Bunpimay and other events that the LFTU is holding to celebrate Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year, 2012.

He thanked the VGCL for its support to the Laotian Federation of Trade Unions in the past and said he hopes that both trade unions will continue to work together to strengthen both organisations.

Vice President Thanh gave a presentation on Vietnam ’s Trade Union, and said that he will do his utmost to build up the traditional relationship that both countries share.

In 2012, the VGCL will continue to help Laos train its cadres and put forward a proposal to the Vietnamese State to honour Laotian leaders who have contributed to the development of Vietnamese-Laotian friendship and cooperation, he added.-VNA
