The second theory conference between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) concluded in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on April 8.

The two-day event was graced by the presence of Politburo member Dinh The Huynh, head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Popularisation and Education and President of its Theory Council.

The Lao delegation was headed by Chueang Sombounkhan, Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee, head of its Commission for Popularisation and Training, and President of the Lao National Council for Social Sciences.

This year’s event focused on improving the Party’s leadership and combat strength in the one-ruling party context in Vietnam and Laos, a fundamental, long-term and urgent issue for both Parties.

Delegates discussed different topics such as the application of Marxism–Leninism theory, the renovation of personnel work, and Party build-up at the grassroots level, among others.

The outcome of four working sessions was expected to help the two Parties devise sound guidelines and policies on their path of national renewal and Party build-up.

During his visit, Huynh held a working session with the LPRP Central Committee’s Commission for Popularisation and Training, and the Lao National Council for Social Sciences, during which, both sides shared professional experience and debated joint activities between the two commissions and councils in the coming time.

The delegation also toured several economic and cultural establishments and met with Vietnamese investors in Laos.-VNA
