Vietnam and Malaysia have signed a cooperation agreement on anti-corruption measures, reports a chief inspector.

The government’s General Inspector Tran Van Truyen said that the agreement was reached during his five-day trip beginning April 2 to Malaysia at the invitation of Chairman of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Haji Ahmad Said.

Under the agreement, both countries will share information on a regular basis as well as their experiences relating to corruption, money laundering, economic crime and trade fraud and work together to settle any outstanding issues.

Malaysia confirmed it would help Vietnam to train up its inspectors, said Truyen, adding that first and foremost, MACC will send a high level delegation to Vietnam in September to discuss issues of mutual concern.

Also, both parties agreed to step up cooperation with other regional countries to eliminate corruption which is rapidly spreading throughout the region, he said./.
