Vietnam, Malta seek further cooperation

A delegation of the National Financial Supervisory Commission led byChairman Vu Viet Ngoan paid a working visit to Malta on November 4-5,aiming at promoting trade and investment between the two countries.

During the trip, the delegation had working sessions with Chairmanof the Malta Financial Services Authority Joseph Bannister and Ministerfor Finance Edward Scicluna, and attended a round-table workshop onVietnam-Malta trade and investment promotion as well as meeting withlocal financial institutions and enterprises.

Ngoan andBannister signed a cooperation agreement which serves a basis forfurther cooperation between the two agencies, particularly in humanresources training.

The Vietnamese and Maltese sidesagreed to increase coordination to stimulate cooperation in the economy,trade and investment, including the acceleration of the signing ofagreements on double tax avoidance and investment protection between thetwo countries.

At the round-table workshop, Malta’sfirms expressed their support for the early signing of the Vietnam-EUfree trade agreement and said they believe that the Southeast Asiancountry will help them make inroads into the potential ASEAN market.

A group of Maltese businesses will visit to Vietnam to seek business and investment partners in 2015.-VNA

Vietnam, Japan hold 11th defence policy dialogue

Top legislator calls for strong Party building, reform in National Assembly

NA Chairman Man, who is also a Politburo member and Secretary of the NA Party Committee, said that the committee, with nearly 3,000 members, must maintain strict organisational principles and build a clean and strong Party organisation that promotes solidarity, democracy, responsibility, unity, and creativity.
