Vietnam Medi-Pharm 2018 attracts 430 firms

Around 430 firms from 30 countries and territories are displaying their best at the 25th Vietnam International Exhibitions on Products, Equipment, Supplies for Pharmaceutical, Medical, Hospital and Rehabilitation – Vietnam Medi-Pharm 2018 which opened in Hanoi on May 9.

Hanoi (VNA) – Around 430 firms from 30 countries and territories are displaying their best at the 25th Vietnam International Exhibitions on Products, Equipment, Supplies for Pharmaceutical, Medical, Hospital and Rehabilitation – Vietnam Medi-Pharm 2018 which opened in Hanoi on May 9. 

The four-day event was co-hosted by the Health Ministry, the Vietnam Medical Products Import-Export JSC (Vimedimex) and the Vietnam Advertisement & Fair Exhibition (Vietfair).

Speaking at the event, Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said domestic and foreign businesses are encouraged to invest in medical equipment, hospital and health services. The Vietnam Medi-Pharm offers chances for businesses to exchange information on various fields in the medical sector and step up investment in health services development to meet people’s demand, she added.

[Vietnam Medi-Pharm 2018 to open in Hanoi]

Major products on display at 535 stalls include pharmaceuticals, health food, medical equipment, health care products, chemicals and lab equipment. 


This is the first time Polish enterprises attend the event with software on medical cost, electronic spare parts and automation. 

The Health Ministry’s display area will disseminate the Party and State’s policies and laws on health care, achievements and major tasks of Vietnam’s medical sector this year. 

Concurrent events will be the Vietnam International Hospital Exhibition, the International Rehabilitation & Healthcare Technology Exhibition & Conference, the International Dental Exhibition, and seminars and forums on cardio-vascular diseases, and vaccination. 

As part of the exhibitions there will be consultancy on medical law, pharmaceutical market, public health care and epidemics prevention, among others.

The Vietnam Medi-Pharm was first held in 1994 and has become an annual event held in May in Hanoi.-VNA

Vietnam moves toward universal free annual health checkups from 2026

Every Vietnamese citizen from 2026 onward will be entitled to at least one free annual medical checkup or screening. Each individual will also have a digital health record integrated into the national digital identification platform VNeID, enabling authorities and healthcare providers to manage health data in a synchronised and continuous manner.

Under the plan, each resident will be assigned a unique EHR linked to their personal identification number, ensuring accuracy and consistency while minimising duplication and data discrepancies. Health data will be continuously updated from medical facilities, routine check-ups, and screening programmes, then integrated and centrally displayed on the application.

Hospital duo on track for Q2 opening as roadblocks vanish

The Health Ministry has worked in lockstep with the Ministry of Construction to clear cost-appraisal and contract-approval bottlenecks, with the process now flowing smoothly. Vietnam intensifies efforts to end malaria by 2030
