Vietnam was ranked 77th, up two places from 2021, in the World Happiness Report 2022 by United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

The report was released on Friday, only two days before the annual International Day of Happiness, after interviewing 5,485 Vietnamese to get the final results.

This year, it ranked 146 countries based on several factors like GDP per capita, social support, life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perceptions of corruption.

Particularly for this year's report, social media data has been used to capture people's emotions before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Anxiety and stress level has decreased in the 2nd year of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is one bright spot in the report

In 2020 this factor increased by 8%, while in 2021 it only increased by 4% compared to the time before the pandemic.

This year's report also found a positive aspect in the face of increasing global instability – the compassion between people.

Finland continues to be the happiest country in the world this year, marking the fifth year in a row it has been on top. It is followed by Denmark, Iceland, and Switzerland./.
