Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam and New Zealand have agreed to continue increasing the exchange of all-level delegations and maintaining dialogue and consultation mechanisms during their first Defence Dialogue in Hanoi on November 5.

The dialogue was co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh and New Zealand Deputy Secretary of Defence in charge of Policy and Planning Tony Lynch.

The two sides hailed positive developments in the bilateral defence collaboration over the past year, especially since the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation in 2013.

They agreed to continue mutual support at multilateral forums like the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus, contributing to regional and global peace and stability.

Vietnam hopes that New Zealand will further assist Vietnam in training English language for military officers as well as share experience in peacekeeping activities.-VNA
