Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam News Agency (VNA)’s trade union, in collaboration with the agency’s youth union and war veterans' association, has launched a programme to raise funds for COVID-19 prevention and control activities among VNA staff.

The launching ceremony was held online and connected to the VNA representative offices in Hanoi, and the Central Highlands and southern regions.

Speaking at the event, VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang praised efforts of the agency’s staff in reporting and reflecting the great endeavours of the entire Party, army and people, especially frontline forces, in the fight against COVID-19.

The VNA’s trade union has coordinated with relevant units to timely support the agency's employees and their relatives who were infected with the novel coronavirus, she said.

Each spiritual and material support will add part of strength to help the country soon defeat the pandemic, she said, expressing her hope that all staff members of the agency will respond to the programme.

After the launching ceremony, all employees of the agency each donated at least one day's salary to the programme. The donations will be handed over to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to support COVID-19 prevention and control activities such as purchasing vacicines and medical equipment as well as supporting quarantine areas and COVID-19 treatment hospitals nationwide./.
