Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Minister of ForeignAffairs Nguyen Quoc Dung and his Nicaraguan counterpart Arlette Marenco convened the two nations’ first deputy foreign ministerial political consultation on October 19 via video conference.
Informed the Nicaraguan side about Vietnam’s political, socio-economicsituation; response to COVID-19; and policy on external relations, Deuty Minister Dung statedVietnam wants to strengthen its friendship and cooperation with Nicaragua onthe basis of their traditional solidarity and amity; their sharing of basic principlesof international relations; and their common interests in national development.
He also praised the good traditionalrelationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Sandinista NationalLiberation Front (FSLN) of Nicaragua.
For her part, Arlette Marenco laudedVietnam’s achievements in COVID-19 prevention and control and socio-economicdevelopment.
Nicaragua wants to foster friendship andmultifaceted collaboration with Vietnam based on the countries’ soundrelations, she stated.
The two officials agreed that the two sides should closely worktogether to maintain the growth momentum of the ties and facilitate mutual visits at all levels.
They said the two foreign ministries will flexibly andeffectively deploy their political consultation mechanism; promote dialogue and connection between the nations’ ministries,sectors and businesses; create a legal framework for trade and investmentpromotion; and encourage bilateral cooperation in potential areas.
The sides discussed international andregional matters of common concern and agreed to further support each other at internationalorganisations and multilateral forums of which both countries are members,particularly the UN./.
