Vietnam obtains six medals at Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad

Six Vietnamese students have pocketed medals, including two golds, at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2021, the Ministry of Education and Training said on May 26.

Hanoi (VNA) – Six Vietnamese students have pocketedmedals, including two golds, at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2021,the Ministry of Education and Training said on May 26.

With two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals, Vietnam ranked fourth among the 35 participating countries and territories at the event, following China,Iran, and Japan.

This result is the best compared to Vietnam’s performance atthe previous APIOs, the ministry noted.

The gold medals went to a 12th grader from the highschool for gifted students in natural sciences under the Vietnam NationalUniversity, Hanoi (VNU), and an 11th grader from the Phan Boi ChauHigh School for the Gifted in Nghe An province.

Fifteen Vietnamese contestants competed online at the VNU Universityof Engineering and Technology on May 22.

According to the organisers’ regulation, the six with thehighest scores were chosen to vie for awards, and all of them won medals.

The virtual APIO 2021, hosted by Indonesia, attracted 845contestants, 228 of whom were nominated for medals.

Earlier, all the eightVietnamese students participating in the Asian Physics Olympiad 2021 also wonprizes, bringing home two golds, one silver, three bronzes and two certificatesof merit./.

Quang Ngai to remove hundreds of unregistered fishing vessels

To date, Quang Ngai has 5,194 registered fishing vessels, with data regularly updated in the National Fisheries Database (VNFishbase). The provincial licensing rate for fishing activities has reached 81.94%, while 99% of local vessels required to install vessel monitoring systems (VMS) have complied.

A total of 351 communes free of temporary, dilapidated houses

From February 21-28, 7,540 temporary and dilapidated houses were renovated or replaced nationwide, bringing the total number of facilities improved under humanitarian policy to 115,481. Of these, 62,737 houses were inaugurated, while construction began on another 52,744.

Vietnam set to host Vesak 2025 with thorough preparations
