Vietnam, Paraguay hold first political consultations (CORRECTION)

The Foreign Ministries of Vietnam and Paraguay held their first political consultation in Hanoi on April 24, during which they agreed to accelerate negotiations for the signing of agreements, thus creating a legal framework for bilateral cooperation.

The two sides said priority will be given to partnership in economics,trade, investment, waterway transport, agriculture, fishery and mining.

They noted that bilateral ties are growingwith two-way trade increasing fivefold from 2010 to about 100 millionUSD in 2014, but there is great room for further expansion.

The two sides agreed to work more closely to facilitate the exchangeof delegations at all levels and among localities as well as partnershipamong enterprises.

Both sides pledged topromote affiliation and mutual support at international organisations,while coordination closely in holding activities celebrating the 20thanniversary of diplomatic ties this year.

They spoke highly of the role that the political consultation mechanismbetween the two ministries plays in boosting the bilateral multi-facedcooperation.

The two sides also discussedregional and international issues of mutual concern, expressing supportfor the stance of settling disputes through peaceful dialogues inconformity with international law, including the 1982 United NationsConvention on the Law of the Sea.

Earlier thesame day, the Paraguay delegation, led by Acting Foreign Minister LuisFernando Ávalos, was received by Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen QuocCuong.

During the visit, which will lastuntil April 27, the Paraguay delegation is scheduled to hold workingsessions with leaders of Ministries of Planning and Investment, Industryand Trade, and Transport.-VNA

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
