The Lao National University held a meeting in Vientiane on Dec. 20 to mark the 67 th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) (Dec. 22, 1944-2011).
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Lao National University Somsi Nhophansay expressed deep gratitude to Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts who had stood shoulder to shoulder with the Lao army and people in the struggle for national independence.
He called on young people of both countries to raise awareness of preserving the Vietnam-Laos special relationship and solidarity.
Colonel Nguyen Phu Hai, Vietnamese military attaché in Laos , highlighted the Vietnam-Laos special fighting alliance founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane and fostered by successive generations of the two countries’ leaders.
He expressed his belief that the two countries’ armies will continue to stand side by side to fulfil tasks entrusted by the two Parties and peoples, helping boost the Vietnam-Laos relationship./.
