Strong progress has been seen in all fields in Peru-Vietnam bilateralties during the past two decades, especially in economics, trade,investment and science and technology, Charge d’affaires ad interim ofthe Peruvian Embassy in Hanoi Luis Tsuboyama has stated.
In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency on the occasion ofthe 20th anniversary of Vietnam-Peru diplomatic relations, thediplomat noted that since the two countries set up diplomatic ties inNovember 14, 1994, they have signed many economic and trade agreements.
He emphasised that the establishment of the PeruvianEmbassy in Hanoi was a major step forward in bilateral relations,followed by robust political, diplomatic and trade partnership as wellas closer people-to people contacts.
Tsuboyama said boosting economic and trade cooperation with Vietnam has been one of the top priorities of Peru .
Over the past years, the two governments have reached consensus onfocusing on beefing up partnership in the strong fields of each other,including agriculture, agro-industry, aquatic farming and mining, henoted.
Specifically, Viettel Group has entered thetelecommunications market in Peru, while the Vietnam National Oiland Gas Group has invested in energy area in the country, he said.
Meanwhile, a Peru-invested beverage company has taken shape in thesouthern province of Binh Duong , marking the entrance of Peruvianenterprises in Vietnam , he added.
Another firmfrom Peru is also scheduled to launch its high-class cruise tourservice along the Mekong River from Ho Chi Minh City, herevealed.
However, the diplomat stated that thePeru-Vietnam economic and trade ties has yet to match their greatpotential as well as the desire of both countries.
He pointed to the far geographic distance as one of the main challengesto the ties, as it pushes up trading cost, adding that a lack of marketinformation is also a barrier.
Tsuboyama affirmedthat the Peruvian Embassy is ready to support all measures, plan andcooperation programmes in order to further forge the partnership betweenthe two countries, while encouraging visits by enterprises to eachother’s country.
Currently, the embassy is workingclosely with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry to arrange forbusinesses of both countries to explore the market and seek partners inthe other country, he said.
With a 90-millionstrong market and a fast growing economy, Vietnam is a promisingland with lots of opportunities for Peruvian enterprises, stated thediplomat.-VNA
