Vietnam prioritises developing friendship, cooperation with Cambodia

Hanoi (VNA) –
Vietnam always attachesimportance to and gives top priority to the development of good neighbourliness;traditional friendship; and comprehensive, sustainable, and long-termcooperation with Cambodia, Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong has said.

Vuong, who is also the permanent member of theCommunist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat, made the affirmationat a reception for visiting Honorary President of the Cambodian People’sParty and President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech HengSamrin in Hanoi on May 28.

He congratulated Cambodia on its remarkableachievements in the recent past, including the results of the third mandatemunicipal and provincial town and district council elections on May 26.

Vuong conveyed his delight at the deeper andmore effective cooperation across all fields between the two countries’ partiesand states, which was significantly attributable to the contributions made bythe Vietnamese and Cambodian parliaments.

The official hoped the Cambodian NationalAssembly and Samdech Heng Samrin will give stronger support to bilateralcooperation policies while continuing to increase experience and informationexchanges; improve coordination at regional and international forums; and directministries, departments, and localities to effectively implement treaties andagreements signed by the two countries.

He proposed that the Cambodian parliamentcontinue promoting and facilitating the issuance of legal documents for Cambodianpeople of Vietnamese origin, and urging Cambodia’s relevant agencies to closelywork with Vietnamese counterparts for the early completion and signing of legaldocuments to recognise the completed 84 percent of the workload in borderdemarcation.

For his part, Samdech Heng Samrin congratulatedVietnam on its accomplishments gained over the years, and believed thatVietnamese people will succeed with even more remarkable achievements in thecause of reform under the leadership of the CPV, as well as fulfil the targetsset at the 12th Party Congress.

He expressed his deep gratitude for the valuableassistance that Vietnam has given to Cambodia in the cause of national liberationand in saving the Cambodian people from the genocidal regime, as well as in thecurrent national construction and defence.

The NA President informed the host about the positiveoutcomes of the talks between the Vietnamese and Cambodian National Assemblies,and affirmed that Cambodia will continue coordinating closely with Vietnam toimplement agreements, treaties, and joint statements signed during the visitsof leaders of the two parties and states.

The Vietnamese official conveyed the best regardsfrom Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong to Cambodianleaders, and thanked the Cambodian leaders for sending condolences and a high-leveldelegation to pay tribute to former President Le Duc Anh when he passed away earlierthis year.–VNA

Vietnam, Italy agree on new cooperation directions

Both sides agreed to facilitate market access for key export products, and prioritise cooperation in investment attraction and technology transfer in emerging and strategic sectors such as new energy, renewable energy and automation, while continuing to strengthen existing cooperation in textiles, footwear, climate change response, electronics, culture and tourism.

Vietnam, China enhance public security ties
