Vietnam continually gives priority to enhancing its traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation with Laos, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung told his Lao counterpart Pany Yathotou during their talks in Hanoi on March 30.
The Vietnamese official welcomed the Lao delegation’s official visit and attendance at the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU-132) as a demonstration of the special relations between the two countries.
He sent his best wishes to the Lao Party, State, and National Assembly leaders and people on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (March 22, 1955) and the traditional New Year festival Boun Pi Mai in April.
The Chairman stressed that the regular exchange of high-ranking delegations from the countries’ Parties, States and National Assemblies contributes to consolidating their solidarity and special relations.
Hailing Laos’s socio-economic achievements, he congratulated the country on its successful organisation of the 35th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly which helped raise its regional and global standing.
For her part, Chairwoman Pany Yathotou spoke highly of Vietnam’s preparations for the IPU-132, likewise helping improve the country’s role and reputation in the world.
She lauded Vietnam’s impressive socio-economic achievements as valuable experience for the Lao Party, State and people in their national development.
At the talks, the leaders briefed each other on their respective countries’ development progress and external relations while voicing mutual delight at the expansion of bilateral ties.
They agreed to foster joint programmes and projects in economics, culture, science, and technology; intensify cooperation between the two sides’ localities; and tap into their land and natural and human resource potential.
The two leaders highlighted the active implementation of their cooperative agreements, adding that they hope the two legislative bodies will continue coordinating in supervising the realisation of deals reached between the States.-VNA
