Vietnam remains a priority partner of Wallonia-Brussels region, said Jean-Claude Marcourt, Vice President of Governments of Wallonia region and French Community of Belgium.
At a press briefing in Hanoi on March 3, Marcourt said this priority had been manifested by the presence of the Office of Economy and Trade of Wallonie region in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as the Wallonia-Brussels delegation and an office of the Association for Promotion of Education and Training in Foreign Countries (APEFE) in Hanoi during the past 15 years.
Jean-Claude Marcourt, who is also Minister of Economy, Foreign Trade, New Technologies, SMEs and Higher Education of Wallonie region, visited Vietnam on March 3-4 as part of his long visit to ASEAN countries, including Singapore , Malaysia , Thailand and Vietnam .
The visit comes in the wake of deepening cooperative ties between Wallonia-Brussels and Vietnam in all fields from tertiary training and scientific cooperation to trade, investment and cultural exchange.
During his stay in Vietnam , Marcourt met with Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc to discuss the in general, and between Wallonia-Brussels and Vietnam in particular trade and economic cooperation between Belgium and Vietnam for the 2010-2012 period.
So far, the development cooperation programme of the Wallonia-Brussels International Cooperation Agency has corresponded perfectly to Vietnam’s priorities with the rate of projects completed and capital disbursement reaching almost 100 percent./.
