Vietnam ranks second in the world for disaster preparedness

Vietnam is among the top four countries in the world for households with disaster response plans, according to a recent survey conducted by Gallup, a leading U.S. analytics and consulting company.

Vietnam ranks second on the survey, only behind the Philippines. The country is also seen as a potential model for countries at risk from climate change.

Gallup said the coordination among Southeast Asian countries has demonstrated its crucial role in reducing disaster risks, with a regional approach that includes early warning systems, enhanced community participation and cooperation, and disaster finance strategies.

This also shows that even countries with limited resources can effectively use early warning systems and equip households to handle disasters, it said./.
