Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam ranked third overall at the 16th Asian Finswimming Championship which closed in China on December 12.
On the last day of competition, Luu Nguyen Duc Tam won a gold medal in the men’s 800m surface with a time of 6:25.31.
He overcame Shan Yongan of China and Yang Ping Hua of Chinese Taipei.
His teammates claimed two silvers in the women’s 800m surface by Tran Thi Trang Diem, 800m surface and men’s team in the 4x100m surface.
The last medal was a bronze by Nguyen Thanh Loc in the men’s 50m apnea event.
The Vietnamese brought home eight golds, four silvers and six bronzes. They also set a new Asia record in the men’s 200m surface with a time of 1min 21.39sec by Thanh Loc.
China bagged the top position and the Republic of Korea secured second place.
In the Asian Youth Finswimming Competition at the same venue, Vietnam bagged six gold, seven silver and six bronze medals.-VNA
