Hanoi (VNA) – Amid the escalating conflict in Sudan, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt and Sudan to continue closely monitoring the situation, and stay ready to deploy necessary protection measures to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens.
According to the latest information from the Embassy, 16 crewmembers on a ship docking at a port in Sudan have left the country. At present, only one citizen holding Vietnamese and Australiannationality is living in the capital city of Khartoum.
A report of the World HealthOrganisation (WHO) on April 21 said that the clashes in Sudan since last weekend haveresulted in over 400 deaths and more than 3,500 injured.
The United NationsChildren's Fund (UNICEF) expressed concern over the risk of many children fallingvictims in the conflicts as the WHO report indicated that at least ninechildren have died and over 50 others injured among the mentioned casualties./.
