A rescue team from the Marine Search and Rescue Centre Region II in central Da Nang province successfully brought a foreign sailor to shore to receive medical attention on June 2.

At 11pm on June 1, Chatterjee Tuhindra, a 58-year-old Indian crewman working on the Hanjin California ship en route to Singapore from China, suffered a stroke. The Liberian ship was 160 nautical miles from the coast of Da Nang at the time.

After receiving a distress signal, the Vietnamese SAR 274 ship, with two doctors on board, left the local sea port for its rescue mission.

It took more than ten hours for SAR 274 to reach the Hanjin California’s location, rescue the man and bring him to the mainland for proper treatment.-VNA
