The Vietnam General Department for Seas and Islands has officially established its long-term cooperative ties with the Republic of Korea Maritime Institute.
A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed by the two agencies in Hanoi on November 3.
The RoK Institute will provide consultancy for the Vietnam General Department for Seas and Islands in making policies and laws on sea and island management.
It will also assist its Vietnamese counterpart in personnel training.
Established in 2008, the Vietnam General Department for Seas and Islands is managed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. It is empowered to manage the nation’s water, sea and islands.
The general department has attached importance to strengthening and expanding external ties, focusing on cooperation with countries and organisations in the region, including the RoK./.
