Moscow (VNA) - Chairwoman of the National Assembly’s Judicial Affairs Committee Le Thi Nga held working sessions with Russian officials in Moscow on June 20-21 to discuss bilateral cooperation in parliamentary activities and judicial supervision.

On June 21, Nga met with Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Alexander Karlin, representatives of several offices of the upper house, and leaders in charge of judicial affairs in major Russian provinces.

She told the host that her visit aimed to learn from Russia’s new experience in law making as Vietnam’s law system has been greatly influenced by that of Russia.

Karlin affirmed that leaders of Russia and its legislative body all maintain a consistent policy of consolidating and intensifying the country’s comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam. He suggested both sides discuss measures to further develop collaboration between the two parliaments, especially between their committees.

Meeting with Russian Deputy Minister of Justice Mikhail Galperin on the same day, Nga told him that Vietnam is planning to revise the Law on Judicial Expertise and seek Russia’s experience in this field.

Galperin said that he had invited representatives of many related ministries and sectors to the meeting to discuss as many issues as possible with the Vietnamese side.

Earlier on June 20, the Vietnamese delegation had a working session with Vice Chairwoman of the State Duma Olga Epifanova and several parliamentarians in the Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group with Vietnam.

Nga thanked Russia for supporting Vietnam’s non-permanent membership on the UN Security Council, hoping to continue receiving the country’s assistance to well fulfill its working tenure.

She expressed her gratitude for Russia’s creation of favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community, and asked the Russian side to help them solve difficulties to stabilize their lives and contribute to the bilateral relations.

She also voiced her hope to receive the Vice Chairwoman and parliamentarians’ support for a policy on visa exemption for Vietnamese citizens, which had been discussed by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin during the former’s Russia visit in May.

The Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to have a working visit to Poland after leaving Russia.-VNA
