Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has climbed one place from 100th to 99th in the latest FIFA rankings thanks to its outstanding performances at the Asian Cup 2019, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
The squad also jumped from the 17th place to the 16th position in Asia, and ranked first in Southeast Asia.
Thailand moved up three places to 115th in the FIFA rankings while the Philippines have gown down seven spots to 125th in the list. The two teams ranked 20th and 23rd in Asia, and 2nd and 3rd in Southeast Asia, respectively.
Iran took the top spot in Asia and are currently 22nd in the world rankings.
Qatar, the winners of the Asian Cup 2019, moved up 38 places to the 55th spot in the FIFA rankings (5th in Asia) while finalists Japan have jumped up 23 places to reach the 27th place on the world rankings.
Overall, Belgium still led the rankings, followed by France, Brazil, Croatia and England.
Despite their exit from the quarter-final after losing 0-1 to Japan at the AFC Asian Cup 2019 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last month, the Vietnamese team concluded their journey at the tournament with glory and pride.-VNA
