Vietnam-Singapore industrial parks promote social responsibility

Binh Duong (VNA) –Staff of the Vietnam-Singapore industrial parks (VSIP) group, across six localities nationwide took to the street on May 28 to clean the local environment, as part of the group’s programme on promoting businesses’ social responsibility.

In Binh Duong, 400 staff took part in cleaning two local primary schools – Tan Phuoc Khanh A in Tan Uyen town and Tan Binh in Di An town. The VSIP Group has also sponsored more than 2.2 billion VND (99,000 USD) for the two schools to build new toilet facilities and other infrastructure.

Similar activities have also taken place in Bac Ninh and Hai Phong in the north and in Quang Ngai and Nghe An in the central region of the country.

The VSIP Group is a joint venture between Vietnam and Singapore. After operating for 20 years, the group has established seven industrial parks in the six localities spanning a total area of more than 6,150 hectares.

It has so far attracted 8.5 billion USD from 616 investors and created 159,000 jobs.

The group has consistantly contributed to local communities via its work on improving infrastructure, sponsoring education facilities, building houses for needy families and setting up communal clinics.-VNA
