Vietnam, Singapore share experience in trade union work

Hanoi (VNA) –
A delegation from VietnamGeneral Confederation of Labour (VGCL) led by its Vice President Tran Thanh Haimade a working trip to Singapore on July 17-20 to exchange experience in tradeunion work.

During talks between the two sides, AssistantSecretary-General of Singapore National Trades Union Congress (SNTUC) PatrickTay Teck Guan updated the guests about changes in the leadership apparatus andpriorities of Singapore trade unions.

He pointed out challenges that Singaporean tradeunionists and workers have to encounter in the face of the fourth industrialrevolution and an aging population.

Meanwhile, Hai informed the host about majorissues for Vietnamese trade unions ahead of their 12th congress and shared theunions’ efforts to protect the rights and interests of workers and bring morebenefits to trade unionists.

SNTUC has nearly one million members, includingthose with many years of experience in developing and operating socialenterprises. 

The VGCL delegation learned about thedevelopment, management and operation of SNTUC social enterprises to ensuresustainable development and benefits for trade union members and employees.

The guests also worked with the AmalgamatedUnion of Public Employees (AUPE), a social enterprise of AUPE and Singapore NationalCo-operative Federation.

The VGCL and the SNTUC agreed to step upspecific cooperation, especially in supporting collaboration activities andsharing management experience among social enterprises.-VNA

Nearly 9,000 blood units collected at red spring festival

First launched in 2008 to address post-Tet blood shortages, the festival expanded nationwide in 2010 under the direction of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign. Over 17 editions, the festival has attracted hundreds of thousands of donors across the nation, with the Hanoi event – hosted by the institute – collecting nearly 120,000 blood units.

Vietnamese, Chinese localities promote exchanges

The New Year meeting, which was first held in 2016, and the Joint Working Committee’s meeting, initiated from 2008, have proved efficiency, leading to significant common understandings regarding exchanges and cooperation among the parties.
