Vietnam and South Africa have reached unanimity over the contents of a draft agreement on mutual judicial assistance in criminal matters.
The outcome came after two days of negotiations which closed on November 27 in South Africa ’s capital city of Pretoria .
Under the 24-article draft agreement, the two sides will provide mutual support in transmission of procedural documents, collection of testimonies, provision of dossiers and evidence, search and confiscation of assets acquired through criminal activities as well as tools and vehicles used in criminal activities, the hand over of detainees for further investigation.
The head of the Vietnamese delegation, Le Tien, Director of the International Cooperation and Judicial Assistance in Criminal Matters under the Supreme People’s Procuracy, said the early signing and implementation of the agreement will contribute to completing the legal framework for the two countries to cooperate in crime prevention and fighting.-VNA
