Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam will accelerate COVID-19 testing to promptly discover infection cases in a bid to counter the pandemic which is spreading complicatedly in the south, said Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long.
Talking with the press on July 17, Long said the health sector outlined scenarios to implement the Government’s Directive No.16 in 19 southern cities and provinces, including adjusting testing strategy and increasing testing capacity to minimise transmission risks.
He also asked localities to establish intensive care units to treat serious cases.
According to him, the Health Ministry has prepared medical supplies with the establishment of a warehouse in Ho Chi Minh City, and deployed 2,000 high-performance and ordinary ventilators for it.
The minister also called on residents to seriously follow Decree No.16, including only going out when necessary, avoiding mass gatherings and limiting social contacts./.
