Vietnam steps up cooperation with China

The Vietnamese Vice President made the affirmation during a meeting with Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping during her working visit to China between May 19-24 to attend the Global Summit of Women 2010 in Beijing .

Vice President Xi expressed his belief that the visit would contribute to boosting relations between the two countries.

He stated that after the two countries set up the strategic cooperative partnership in May 2008, cooperation fields between the two countries have expanded and yielded new important achievements with political trust increased and cooperative exchange deepened. The settlement of the demarcation of the Tonkin Gulf and the completion of demarcation and marker planting along the bilateral land border have benefited the two countries’ relations and peace, stability and development in the region, as well as given both siddes good experiences in solving outstanding problems.

Xi expressed his belief that with joint efforts, the comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two Parties and countries would be constantly developed and diversified.

The two sides also stressed on the importance of the Vietnam-China Friendship Year 2010, describing the year as an occasion to organise activities to strengthen the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries, thus developing the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new height in line with the interests and aspiration of the two peoples.

Meeting with the President of the All China Women's Federation (ACWF) Chen Zhili, Vice President Doan congratulated the ACWF for successfully organising the Global Summit of Women 2010. The two sides agreed that a stronger cooperation between the Vietnam Women’s Union and the ACWF would contribute to expanding ties between the two countries, as well as promoting international integration of both nations.

The Vice President also received Wang Jiarui, Chief of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China and agreed with him on the need to make full use of the current cooperative mechanism and boost cooperation exchanges between the two Parties and countries, especially in Party building, State management and personnel training.

Attending the Vietnam-China business forum, Doan stated that the economic, trade and investment relations between the two countries saw new development over the past years. She noted that China has been Vietnam ’s leading trade partner for many years and the Vietnamese Government always welcomes and creates favourable conditions for Chinese businesses to invest in the country.

She expressed her hope that trade turnover between the two countries would reach 25 billion USD in 2010.

While in China , Vice President Doan paid a floral tribute to President Mao Zedong at his mausoleum and visited some cultural and scientific and technological establishments in Beijing . She also visited Dalian city in Liaoning province./.
