Delivering a speech to more than 160 young Vietnamese expatriates livingin 21 countries worldwide at the opening ceremony, Deputy ForeignMinister Vu Hong Nam stated the Party and Government consider overseasVietnamese an integral part of the nation, saying the country hasimplemented a range of policies to support the community, especially theyounger generation.
He wished the Vietnameseyouth abroad would learn about the late President Ho Chi Minh to enhancetheir patriotic deeds and solidarity.
NguyenLong Hai, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union CentralCommittee, expressed his hope that the youth would further theircommunity-building roles and maintain traditional values overseasdespite the geographic distance.
Held annuallyby the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, this year’sVietnam Summer Camp themed “Proud of Vietnam” runs from July 13-31 andwill take participants to major landmarks from the north to the south ofthe nation.
