During the visit from July 12-15, thedelegation had working sessions with leaders of the parliament, theruling party coalition and officials from ministries of foreign affairs,integration and gender equality, and relevant agencies.
Ha ThiKhiet briefed her hosts of Vietnam ’s socio-economic achievements andaffirmed the country’s consistent policy of attaching importance andwanting to increase traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperationwith Sweden .
Swedish leaders, including ParliamentSecretary General Anders Forsberg and Secretary of State for ForeignAffairs Gunnar Wieslander, spoke highly of Vietnam ’s renewal policyand resolve, expressing their pleasure with the southeast Asian nation’sachievements.
They were pleased with the development offriendship and cooperation fostered by both leaders and peoples duringthe past 40 years. They emphasised the need to lift the level ofbilateral ties as Sweden proved its role as an important member of theEuropean Union and Vietnam affirmed its regional and internationalposition.
The two sides need to increase exchanges of visits ofhigh-level delegations and expand trade and investment ties, the leadersagreed.
The visit was part of a project on enhancement of femaleleadership capacity carried out by Vietnam ’s Foreign Ministry andthe United Nations Development Programme.
This was the firstvisit to Sweden by a Vietnamese female high-level delegation todiscuss gender equality as well as to contribute to increased bilateralcooperation in the future./.
