(Photo: VNA) HCMCity (VNA) - The Embassy of Sweden in Hanoi, in partnership with the HoChi Minh City People’s Committee and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce andIndustry (VCCI), held a conference titled “Pioneer to the Possible” in thesouthern city on June 2 as part of efforts to boost their partnership insustainable development.
Inher welcoming remarks, Ambassador of Sweden Ann Mawe said Sweden is the world’spioneer in innovation and sustainable development with hands-on experiences andtechnological solutions enhancing green transformation.
Theconference aims to be a platform for the two sides to exchange views and shareinnovative solutions for a sustainable future, she said.
Sheexpressed her delight at the growing relations between the two countries overrecent years, saying she hopes they will step up cooperation in innovation totogether go towards a more sustainable, prosperous and climate-resilientfuture.
Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of themunicipal People’s Committee, spoke highly of the conference, saying both sidesshared visions to accelerate sustainable activities as the world witnessesmajor changes and a prevalence of non-conventional threats.
He further noted that to fulfill its sustainabledevelopment goals, HCM City has been implementing a number of major projects insmart city, digital transformation, transport planning, flooding control andwastewater treatment, development of a financial hub, education, healthcare andhuman resources, among others.
The city has been exerting efforts toshift from a labour-intensive economy to one of services and innovation, and todevelop breakthrough technologies and a green economy and circular economy, headded.
He underscored that the city stands readyto partner with Sweden and the international community in green finance andtechnology as well as capacity building. He also expected the two sides tocarry out programmes and investment projects to address the city’s pressingissues and to bring benefits to people and enterprises.
The event featured a series of activities,including demonstration of technologies and green technology solutions fromSweden, and seminars on sustainable energy, production, consumption and materials./.
