Vietnam to attend 17th world youth festival

A Vietnamese delegation on Dec. 10 arrived in the South African administrative capital city of Pretoria to attend the 17th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS 17) due to open on Dec. 13.
A Vietnamese delegation on Dec. 10 arrived in the South African administrative capital city of Pretoria to attend the 17th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS 17) due to open on Dec. 13.

Attending the welcome ceremony were representatives of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), the South African Youth Federation, the African National Congress’s Youth League and other participating delegations.

Under the theme "Let's defeat imperialism, for a world of peace, solidarity and social transformation", the event, the most important forum for youth and students in the globe held every five years by WFDY, has attracted the participation of about 15,000 youths and students from 100 countries, according to the organizing board.

The Vietnamese delegation will host a conference on the 80 th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and attend 24 other conferences and a wide range of sporting and cultural activities, including Vietnamese Day.


They will also engage in the international tribunal against imperialism and raise voices of supports for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin which was sprayed by the US during the war in Vietnam./.
