Vietnam to attend ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023 in Indonesia

Vietnam will participate in ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2023 themed “ASEAN: A Journey to Wonderful Destinations”, and the Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) trade fair in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from February 2 – 5, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam will participate in ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2023themed “ASEAN: A Journey to Wonderful Destinations”, and the Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) trade fair in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from February 2 – 5, according to theVietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

At the forum, Vietnam will introduce tourism development, mechanisms andpolicies, tourism products and services after the COVID-19 pandemic, and the messageof Vietnam tourism through the slogan "Vietnam - Timeless Charm" andthe campaign "Live fully in Vietnam".

TRAVEX is one of the most important activities within ATF 2023, attracting theattention of international partners, businesses and tourists. It will feature exhibitionsand symposiums.

Vietnam’s booth at the exhibition will highlight the National Tourism Year 2023 in the south – central province of Binh Thuan.

The events are expected to offer a good chance for the tourismsector to introduce Vietnam’s attractive destinations, and help travel agenciesto seek partners, towards speeding up tourism recovery.   

ASEAN is one of the most dynamic tourism development regions in Asia and the Pacific.Most of ASEAN member countries consider tourism an important economic sector.

According to data from the ASEAN Secretariat, in 2019, international touristarrivals in Southeast Asia reached 143.5 million, accounting for 9.6% of globalinternational tourists. The growth rate reached 6.1%, 2.1% higher than theworld's average rate.

For Vietnam, ASEAN is one of the most important markets andpartners. In 2019, visitors from ASEAN to Vietnam hit nearly 2.1 million,accounting for about 11.6% of the total number of international arrivals to thenation. Multilateral cooperation within ASEAN plays an important role inVietnam's international tourism cooperation.

Within the framework of ATF 2023,a series of activities will be held, including the 22nd ASEAN Plus Three Tourism Ministers MeetingASEAN– India Tourism Ministers Meeting, the 2nd ASEAN – Russia Tourism Ministers Meeting,the 57th Meeting of ASEANNational Tourism Organisations, the 42nd Meeting of ASEAN 3 NationalTourism Organisations, the 29th ASEAN - India National Tourism Organisations, the13th ASEAN-Russia Federation Tourism Consultation Meeting, the ASEAN Tourism Awards Ceremony, and a pressconference of ASEAN tourism ministers and other activities./.

National, local traffic safety committees to be dissolved from June 1

Under the dicision, ministries and ministerial-level agencies will assume responsibility for tasks previously performed by the committee, in line with their mandates under the Law on Government Organisation, the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, the Law on Roads and other relevant legal frameworks, ensuring that traffic safety and order are maintained without disrupiton.

National foreign language proficiency framework issued

The circular establishes a unified benchmark for foreign language proficiency across the national education system, providing a foundation for curriculum design, teaching, testing, assessment, and certification. Two wanted for abusing religious cover to undermine national unity policy

The fugitives are Di (also known as Siu Di), born in 1941, and Dinh Yum (also known as Dinh Jum or Ba Koih), born in 1963, from Ba Na ethnic minority group in Gia Lai province, and hold Vietnamese nationality. They have been charged under Clause 1, Article 116 of the Penal Code for undermining the national unity policy.

Support delivered to Khmer households for traditional New Year

The province's delegation of National Assembly deputies, in coordination with relevant agencies, presented 600 gifts across 11 communes, including 100 in Tap Son commune and 50 in each of the others. The programme, worth 300 million VND (11,300 USD), was funded by Agribank’s Vinh Long branch.
