Construction contracts for the Tan Vu-Lach Huyen Expressway were signed on February 11 in Hanoi, allowing work on the 15.63 km road - comprising of a 5.44 km bridge crossing the sea – to start on February 15.
With a total investment of 11.8 trillion VND (554.6 million USD), mostly from Japanese Official Development Assistance, the expressway – set to be the longest of its kind ever built in Vietnam - will shorten the travelling distance between the international gateway port of Hai Phong and the Hanoi-Hai Phong Highway when it opens in early 2017.
Apart from the bridge, the project also include 10.2 km road with a surface width of 29.5m, allowing vehicles to travel at 80 km per hour.
The project will be implemented by the Japanese Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Company, the Truong Son Construction Company and the Civil Engineering Construction Company No. 4 (Cienco 4).-VNA
