Hanoi (VNA) – The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting began a project on enhancing the quality of rainfall calculation and storm forecasts on March 8.
Using more than 20 million EUR from Finland’s official development assistance, the project will run through 2018 to improve weather forecast systems across 15 provinces and cities.
Five radar and 18 storm centres will be built, and three radar centres will be upgraded.
The project will also set up a facility to digitise radar information, produce weather services and provide training courses for staff.
Under support from the Finnish Government, Vietnam has carried out several projects on modernising national weather forecasts.-VNA
