Vietnam to send 19-strong delegation to Tokyo Paralympics

Vietnam will send a 19-member delegation to the Tokyo Paralympics in the near future, said deputy head of the Vietnam Sports Administration under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Hong Minh.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam will send a 19-member delegation to the Tokyo Paralympics in the near future, said deputy head of the VietnamSports Administration under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Hong Minh.

During his working session withthe Vietnam Paralympic Association in Hanoi on June 16, Minh said thedelegation will comprise a leader, three officials, a doctor, threecoaches and 11 athletes, including three in track-and-field, four in swimmingand four in weightlifting.

Before their departure for Tokyo onAugust 18, they are required to take PCR tests for COVID-19 with negative results within 72 hours./.

Under the tournament format, the semifinals and final will be played over two legs. Vietnam will travel to Malaysia for the first leg on August 16 before hosting the second leg on August 19. Should Vietnam overcome Malaysia, they will meet the winner of the other semifinal between Thailand and Singapore in the final.
