Vietnam to take part in Sudirman Cup

Vietnam have been placed in Group 2A for the qualification round of the upcoming badminton tournament Sudirman Cup in Gold Coast, Australia.

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam have been placed in Group 2A for the qualificationround of the upcoming badminton tournament Sudirman Cup in Gold Coast,Australia.

Theywill compete against Germany, Scotland and Canada. Twenty-four other teams havebeen divided into seven different groups.

HostsAustralia have been pitted in the tough Group 2B, going up against Singapore,the United States and Austria in their draw. Defending champions China havealready started planning their title defence, finding themselves in positionone of Group 1A against Thailand and Hong Kong.

TheSudirman Cup is a mixed team badminton world championship, which takes placeevery two years. There are five matches in every round: Men’s and women’ssingles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

Thisyear the event will be held from May 21 to May 28. China swept Japan to takeSudirman Cup in 2015.-VNA
