Dodoma (VNA) – Vietnam always treasures the traditional friendship and mutually-beneficial cooperation with African countries, including Tanzania - an important partner, President Truong Tan Sang has affirmed.

Meeting President of the Party of Revolution (CCM) of Tanzania Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete on March 9 as part of his State visit to Tanzania, President Sang congratulated the party on its victory at the general election last October.

The leader also informed his host about the outcomes of the 12th National Party Congress, especially the election of a new leadership and the comprehensive goals for the next five years.

The strengthening of cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the CCM will give a boost to bilateral economic, trade and investment links, he stated.

Kikwete, for his part, said Tanzania is keen on learning from Vietnam’s development experience. He hopes more Vietnamese firms will be inspired by the successful joint venture of Viettel and invest in Tanzania

He stressed that increased collaboration between the two Parties will be significant to intensifying close ties between Tanzanian and Vietnamese governments.

The CCM is interested in acquiring the CPV’s experience in Party building and personnel training, he said, suggesting that the two Parties devise a cooperation agreement soon.

On the occasion, he informed that a delegation of the CCM led by its Secretary General will visit Vietnam this April.-VNA
