Buenos Aires (VNA) –
VietnameseAmbassador to Argentina Dang Xuan Dung paid a working visit to Uruguay fromApril 9-12 to discuss bilateral cooperation programmes between the twocountries in 2019.

Dung, who is also Vietnamese Ambassador toUruguay, paid a courtesy visit to Uruguay Vice President Lucía Topolansky andhad working sessions with President of the Frente Amplio (Broad Front) JavierMiranda, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Uruguay Juan Castillo, andDeputy Foreign Minister Ariel Bergamino.

Dung and the Uruguayan leaders exchanged viewson orientations and solutions to boost the bilateral relations in the comingtime based on the agreements reached at the first meeting of theVietnam-Uruguay joint committee on economic, commercial and investmentcooperation in October 2018.

They agreed to consider economy and trade afoundation for the bilateral relationship and the two countries will expandaffiliation to culture and education.

The two sides discussed the possibility ofparliamentary diplomatic cooperation and shared information on the situation ofthe Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) as well as the possible signing of a freetrade agreement between Vietnam and the bloc. 

During the working sessions with leaders of the FA and the Communist Party ofUruguay, the two sides agreed to boost diplomatic ties through the Partychannel, while continuously supporting each other at multilateral forums andinternational organisations. 

President of the FA Javier Miranda expressed his hope to visit Vietnam andfurther tighten relations with the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

The two sides also exchanged views on regionaland international issues of mutual concern and agreed on some measures tostrengthen ties between the FA and the CPV in the coming time, includingdelegation exchanges, as well as bolster cooperation in culture, education andtourism.-VNA
