Vietnam, US trade unions boost cooperation

Trumka said Tung’s current visit openedup a new page in cooperative relations between the trade unions of thetwo countries, and expressed his desire to cooperate and shareexperience with Vietnam in this field.

Tungtalked about the challenges the Vietnamese trade union faces inperforming its role of representing and protecting the rights ofworkers.

The two officials agreed on areas ofcooperation between the Vietnamese and US trade unions, especially intraining trade union cadres at grassroots levels and tightening linkagesamong trade union cadre training schools.

AFL-CIO now has more than 11 million members at 56 trade union organisations across the US. /.
