Vietnam, Uzbekistan step up friendship cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Union of FriendshipOrganisations (VUFO) on July 13 held a virtual signing ceremony of memoranda ofunderstanding (MoU) with Uzbekistan’s partners.

Of the documents, one was singed by the VUFO and the Committeeon Interethnic Relations and Friendship Cooperation with Foreign Countries ofUzbekistan, and another was inked by the Vietnam-Uzbekistan FriendshipAssociation and the Uzbekistan-Vietnam Friendship Association.

They are expected to help enhance the traditionalfriendship and cooperation between the two countries' people.

Addressing the ceremony, VUFO President Nguyen PhuongNga said people-to-people exchanges between the two countries have beenmaintained despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reviewing activities organised by the two countries’friendship associations over the past years, Nga said such activitieshave significantly contributed to maintaining the traditional friendship andclose relations between the people of Vietnam and Uzbekistan.

Nga and Luong Phan Cu, President of theVietnam-Uzbekistan Friendship Association, shared the view that the documents havecreated a stable, comprehensive legal framework for people-to-peoplecooperation in various fields like delegation exchange, tourism and culturepromotion, and seminars, helping to raise mutual understanding about the land,people, history and culture of the respective countries.

The signing of the documents forms part of effortsto materialise Vietnam’s foreign policy, Nga stressed./.

The two gold medallists are Tran Trung Kien, a 12th grader from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, who scored 169.25 points, and Nguyen Ngo Duc, a 12th grader from the Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted in Nghe An province, who scored 151.05 points.

Vietnam among countries with high human development: UNDP report

According to the report, which evaluates human development progress based on the Human Development Index (HDI), tracking achievements in health, education and income, Vietnam’s HDI in 2023 reached 0.766, ranking 93rd out of 193 countries and territories. This marked a substantial leap from 0.499 in 1990, representing a 53.5% increase, a notable trajectory of growth over more than three decades.
