Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on September 14 highly valued Estonia’s e-government model, saying that the country’s experience in this field will be a good lesson for Vietnam.

Receiving Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser in Hanoi, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam welcomes Estonian experts’ travelling to Vietnam to support its e-government building process.

Mikser said he hopes that his visit, the first of its kind, will create a new driving force for the bilateral relations, as cooperation potential remains huge, especially in the fields of e-government and e-governance.

He also expressed his belief that the two countries’ relations will grow strongly in the time ahead.

Digital technology will help Vietnam speed up the building of an e-government, intensify transparency and save budget, he said, adding that Estonia is willing to share its experience in this field.

He stressed that Estonia will help boost the EU’s signing of a free trade agreement with Vietnam, and will be one of the first countries to ratify the document.

Acknowledging the guest’s ideas, PM Phuc said that two-way trade remains low. Therefore, he believed that after the visit, Estonia will review and step up measures to boost bilateral trade.

He spoke highly of effective coordination between the two countries at multilateral forums, and agreed on the minister’s stance that countries must respect international law and the United Nations’ conventions.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the PM emphasised Vietnam’s consistent point of view of ensuring peace, stability and aviation and navigation freedom, and respecting the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.-VNA
