Vietnam woos EuroCham pharmaceutical businesses

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam encourages international pharmaceutical businesses, including membersof EuroCham, to extend their investment and establish research centres in thecountry, said Nguyen Van Binh, Secretary of the Party Central Committee andhead of the committee’s Economic Commission. 

At a reception for a delegation of the EuropeanChamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham)’s Pharmaceutical Sector Committee(Pharma Group) in Hanoi on June 22, Binh said that Vietnam attaches importanceto implementing social policies comprehensively and pays attention to providingeasy access to health care services and medicines at reasonable prices.

Binh briefed the delegation on major orientationsand solutions of the Vietnamese Party and Government in order to improvebusiness environment, raise competiveness and encourage enterprises to roll outtheir operation on a larger scale, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector.He added that Vietnam wants tobecome a pharmaceutical production centre in ASEAN. 

Pharma Group Vice President Nicholas Jones, whois in charge of the Vietnamese market, expressed his optimism about Vietnam’ssocio-economic development prospects as well as the country’s policies andmeasures to improve business climate.  
He spoke about challenges facing the pharmaceuticaland health care sector, saying he hopes that Vietnam will make moreimprovements in legal framework, mechanisms and policies, to better accommodatefirms operating in pharmaceutical industry. 

The participating businesses shared the viewsthat Vietnam is an important market and has potential to become apharmaceutical production centre of ASEAN. 

They also talked about pharmaceuticaldevelopment models and sustainable access to medicines of people, along withissues regarding Government bidding and procurement, property rights and investmentopportunities in Vietnam.-VNA

Self-reliance in raw materials fuels Vietnam’s dairy growth

The strategy targets annual industry growth of 12-14% by 2030, with processed liquid milk output reaching 4.2 billion litres annually. Domestic fresh milk production is projected to hit 2.6 billion litres per year, meeting 60-65% of processing demand, while milk powder output is expected to reach 245,000 tonnes annually. Per capita milk consumption is targeted at 40 litres per year.

Ho Chi Minh City targets next-generation, high-value FDI

The southern economic hub attracted nearly 3.3 billion USD in FDI during the first four months of 2026, marking a sharp year-on-year increase of 227.1%. The total included 539 newly licensed projects with registered capital exceeding 791.8 million USD and 58 existing projects adding 259.3 million USD in supplementary investment.
