Buenos Aires (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina and Uruguay Dang Xuan Dung presented his letter of credentials to Uruguayan President Tabaré Vázquez in Uruguay’s capital city Montevideo on December 19.

Dung expressed his delight at undertaking the mission at a time when the two countries are looking forward to the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties next year.

He said the Vietnamese embassy is actively working with Uruguay’s Foreign Ministry and agencies concerned to make the best preparations for the anniversary, especially the first meeting of the Joint Committee on Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation in Montevideo.

Vietnam and Uruguay established diplomatic ties on August 11, 1993. Over the past more than two decades, bilateral ties have grown solidly, evidenced by the outcomes of Vietnam visits by President Vázquez in November 2007 during his first tenure and Vice President Danilo Astori in November 2012.

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh also visited the South American country in November 2012 and December 2013, respectively.-VNA
