Vietnamese, Cambodian parliaments boost ties

The External Affairs Committees of the Vietnamese and Cambodian parliaments have agreed to jointly organise a conference of the Vietnamese, Cambodian and Lao Parliaments’ External Affairs Committees.
The External Affairs Committees of the Vietnamese and Cambodian parliaments have agreed to increase the exchange of delegations and jointly organise a conference of the Vietnamese, Cambodian and Lao Parliaments’ External Affairs Committees, in July in Vietnam.

The agreement was reached between Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly External Affairs Committee Tran Van Hang and Chairman of the Cambodian Parliament’s Committee for External Affairs, International Cooperation and Information Chheang Vun, at their talks in Hanoi on Feb. 21.

Hang proposed both sides increase the exchange of information and coordinate closely at international forums, especially within the framework of ASEAN cooperation and sub-regional cooperation mechanisms, contributing to promoting peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Vietnam always attaches importance and prioritises the development of neighbouring relationships, traditional friendship and longlasting comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia, considering the close relations as the two nations’ valuable treasures to be preserved and passed to future generations, he said.

The two sides said the relationship between the Vietnamese and Cambodian parliaments is being implemented in line with the cooperative agreement signed on April 26, 2007.

They also created a draft memorandum of understanding on the amendments and supplements to a new cooperative agreement to be signed between the two parliaments.

Later the same day, Chheang Vun was received by Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Le Hong Anh.

Anh said he hoped the two parliaments and their agencies will continue the exchange of experiences in law-making, supervision and making decisions on the country’s major issues while instructing ministries, branches and localities to effectively implement agreements and treaties of the two countries.

Chheang Vun affirmed that Cambodia will do its utmost to foster the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia./.
