Vietnamese, Cambodian Party officials hold online talks

Hanoi (VNA) – Politburo member and permanent member of the PartyCentral Committee’s Secretariat Vo Van Thuong on November 4 held talks via videoconference with Vice President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and President of theSenate of Cambodia Say Chhum.

Thuong expressed his belief that under the sound rule of King Norodom Sihamoni andthe CPP leadership, the Cambodian Government led by Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the parliament and people will reap further achievementsin their cause of national defence, construction and development.  

Congratulating Vietnam on the significant and comprehensive achievements over the past time, Say Chhum saidhe believes that Vietnamese people will continue to obtain more success in the future.

The two sides informed each otheron the situations of their respective parties and countries and shared experience in Party building work.

Thuong spoke about the Vietnamese party's major orientations in furthering the Doi Moi (renewal) cause and laid emphasis on the unity of the Party Central Committee on intensifying Party building and rectification.

The two sides stressed that theVietnamese and Cambodian Parties and States always value and give top priority to the twocountries’ ties, considering it a strategic task in their policies for externalrelations.

They expressed theirdetermination to preserve, protect, and strengthen the good neighbourliness,traditional friendship, and sustainable and comprehensive cooperation betweenVietnam and Cambodia.  

They agreed tocontinue to work closely in effectively implementing joint statements andcooperation agreements; organising mutual visits and online talks betweentheir Party and State leaders; and boosting information exchange regarding Partybuilding and socio-economic development. 

They also reached consensus onclosely cooperating at multilateral forums, promoting educational campaigns to raise public awareness about the traditional Vietnam – Cambodia ties,and co-organising activities marking the 55th anniversary ofthe nations’ diplomatic relations next year.

Both officials pledged to enhance defence-security cooperation, build a Vietnam –Cambodia borderline of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation anddevelopment, and enhance the effectiveness of collaboration in economy, trade,investment, tourism, culture, education, and science-technology.

They also agreed tocreate favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Cambodia and the Cambodian community in Vietnam. 

The officials statedin any circumstances, the two sides will do their best to preserve, protect, and nurturethe ever-growing Vietnam-Cambodia relationship./.
