It’s Vietnam’s best ever performance in the MissUniverse pageant.
In the Question and Answer portion, the question forH’Hen Nie was “The #MeToo movement has sparked a global conversation. Inresponse, some have said that the world has become too politically correct. Doyou think the #MeToo movement has gone too far?"
"I don't think that it has gone too far.Protecting women and women's rights is the right thing to do. Women need protectionand rights," she answered.
H’Hen Nie, a 25-year-old model from the Ede ethnicminority group in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, was crowned MissUniverse Vietnam 2017 in January.
Meanwhile, Catriona Gray from the Philippines wascrowned Miss Universe 2018. Contestants from South Africa and Venezuela werethe pageant’s first and second runners-up,respectively.
The grand finale of the 67th edition of the MissUniverse contest featured 94 participants from across the world, breaking the2017’s record of 92.
Launched in 1952, Miss Universe is among theworld’s biggest annual beauty contests, along with Miss World, MissInternational and Miss Earth. –VNA
