Vietnamese, Cuban youth unions strengthen cooperation

Havana (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh Communist YouthUnion (HCMYU) in Ho Chi Minh City and the Young Communist League (UJC) ofHavana will enhance cooperation in the 2023-2027 period under a memorandum ofunderstanding (MoU) signed on June 30.

Secretary of the HCMYU in HCM City Pham Thi ThanhPhuong emphasised the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, andexpressed her hope to the expansion of cooperation and youth movements between the twocities.

Phuong also noted her belief that the MoU will open upa new period for programmes and activities bringing together young people ofthe two localities.

For his part, First Secretary of the UJC Havana RaúlAlejandro Palmero said Cuba was the first Latin American nation to establish diplomaticties with Vietnam in 1960, saying Cuban youngsters have grown up with admirationfor Vietnamese people for their spirit in both struggling and working.

The HCM City delegation is paying a working visit toCuba from June 26 to July 3 on the occasion of the 50th anniversaryof Cuban leader Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated area in the south ofVietnam (September 1973).

On this occasion, the HCMYU in HCM City presented manygifts to the UJC Havana in support of its youth movements.
Currently, 63 Vietnamese students are studying in the Caribbeannation./.

FLC appeal hearing postponed, giving more time for compensation

After discussions and listening to opinions from lawyers, defendants, and victims present at the trial, the judicial panel stated that postponing the appeal hearing for Trinh Van Quyet, ex-chairman of FLC Group, is necessary to ensure the rights of the victims. The postponement aims to give the defendants and their families more time to pay compensation for victims and those with related rights and obligations.
